What is the default mask in the Locus?

What is the default mask in the Locus, is it 13deg or 15deg?

In my brief but terrific experience with the Locus system, I found that the observation times ranged from 15-45 minutes depending on the sat numbers.

Is it possible to use it in the kinematic mode and do shorter observation times on control stations?

Stephen,

The default elevation mask on the Locus receiver is 10 degrees. Data is not stored for tracked satellites below this mask.

Locus Processor, on the other hand, has a default elevation mask of 15 degrees. The data stored between 10 and 15 degrees is not used in processing. This has changed in Ashtech Solutions v2 were the user can change the elevation mask for processing.

Regarding your question on kinematic mode, the answer is yes. You can establish control with the kinematic mode. Observation times are much shorter. But the special constraints of kinematic data collection apply, i.e. maintain lock on satellites are you move from point to point, point separate under 10 km recommended, data collection only during good satellite geometry (low PDOPS).

Hope this helps.
