Initialization failure?
Posted By Nearly Normal PLS on 5/9/2001 at 3:59 AM

Today I had an entire kinematic session fail, and then repeated the session with the same procedures, which processed OK.

I used the INIT bar for 300 seconds, the height was the same... everything was the same, except that the failed session showed an error message during processing ... "possible blunder points 0001 and 0002 appear to be the same point"

Well, 0001 is the base, and 0002 is the init bar point. Both sessions processed with the light, or greyed-out 0002, indicating that the 0002 point is recognized as the init point.

The only other difference (aside from the stray solar flair) is that the alarm went off on the base receiver (I had it turned on for simplicity) as I was on my way to the first kinematic point.

Can anyone offer an explanation for this?

By the way, its great to hear of a new upgrade being offered without the arm-twisting we usually get from Softdesk or Microsoft.

I still havent installed v1.2 of the locus processor, because as a Sokkia buyer, I have no Product ID number.

Will the new version be available to me?

Nearly Normal,

If you can, email the first data set to me. I will take a look to see if I can determine why it failed. It may be informative for the both of us.

Regarding v1.2, as a Sokkia buyer, you are not precluded from using this version. Call Ashtech Customer Support at 800-229-2400, and they will supply you with a Product ID. Then be sure to register your v1.2 online at www.ashtech.com. This will get you on the mailing list for the new upgrade to v2.0.
