To one or all of the Ashtech Techs,
I have three Locus receivers. Haven't cleared memory in a while by a hard reset. The problem/question is this..
Yesterday May 7, 2001 I went out and got about 4 hours of data. I was downloading this morning May 8 and noticed a little quirk in the almanac file. On 2 machines of the three an old almanac was still there...alm99.227. on the third machine was alm01.129. The data files from all three units were xxxx.127 !!
Actually I think these almanac files xxx.227 were there for the last coupla times I went out, but I hadn't paid attention because the third was always correct. I copy them into a common folder for use by Processor and never really paid attention that two units weren't updating the almanac.
I figure the first thing to do is a hard reset but I thought I would talk to you guys first. Is this a sign of a potential problem just around the next bend in the road ? Is there any factory servicing that needs to be done ?
TIA,
Jimbo
EDIT : Had to change Ashtech Guys to Techs...didn't want to not include Linda!

Hi, there,
The ALMxx.xxx file is only used in Mission Planning, not in the post-processing, so it's no surprise that you hadn't noticed the date previously.
A reset on all receivers will take care of that file, although it's curious that those old alamanacs weren't overwritten. I've heard of that almanac file dated in the future, but can't recall the specifics. As I recall, it wasn't serious, but perhaps Bill can shed some light on the subject.
Best Regards,
Linda
Jimbo,
Unfortunately, I cannot shed any more light on why two of your receivers held on to such old almanac files. As Linda recommended, perform a full reset of these receivers and keep an eye on them. If they continue to exhibit the same problem, let me know. We may want to have a look.

Thanks Linda and Bill.
I'll keep my eye on them and let ya know if anything else happens.
