Curious to know what version of firmware is the latest for the Z-Surveyor's? Also, what is the accuracy of the basic marine antenna's that come standard with the Z-Surveyor package.

support@ashtech.com is the best source for current firmware versions.

The marine antenna is no less accurate than others, but it affords a little less multipath [reflected signal] rejection than the geodetic antenna. The tradeoff was in reducing size and weight; you don't want anything heavy on top of a pole/bipod.

Thank you Brian, that's what I knew from experience. However everyone seems to think they know alot about GPS when they don't use it! Thanks again.

The latest released firmware version for the ZSurveyors is UG00. It is available by typing in our ftp site address:

ftp://ftp.ashtech.com/pub/firmware/zsurvey/

Or, if you wish, you can also access this same location from our website

www.ashtech.com

Click on the "Customer Support" link, followed by clicking on the "access ftp site" link. You can then go into the /pub/firmware/zsurvey folder.


We recommend that you use the "Universal Program Loader" to load new firmware versions. The UPL is located at:

ftp://ftp.ashtech.com/software/Universal%20Program%20Loader/

We have been using Firmware Version UG05 for the past 6 months. Richard Phelan, is this the latest version or not? Curious.

Hi:

UG05 is only released on a case-by-case basis when the customer is seeing definite signs of radio interference in their RTK survey i.e. an intermittently flickering receive light on their ROVER radio, limited range from the BASE, other transmissions on their RTK frequency that that are seeing on a walkie talkie or scanner.

UG05 will perform better than UG00 in these circumstances -- fix times will be faster.

A symptom of this interference problem with UG00 will be that you cannot get "fixed" for minutes at a time, even with good PDOPS, high RTK reception percentage, low age of data, and sufficient satellites "used" at the rover. It is then time to get UG00.

A new firmware release for the Zfamily (including Zsurveyor) should be out soon.

Will the UGO5 firmware work on my Sokkia 2300 units? Can I get the update?
Would it help?

Just looking to fix the propblems that you laid out in the post.

yes UG05 will work with a GSR2300 (Zsurveyor)

I will email you the UG05 firmware. You will need to expand the file I send with Winzip.

I would recommend using our Universal Porgram Loader to load this firmware. The UPL is at

Once the UPL is installed on your computer you will be able to upload UG05 to your computer with a serial cable attached to your computer COM port and port A of your Zsurveyor.
