I want to reset the data path in my desktop to store all GPS files in a directory called c:\gpsl1\
in this directory I want to place each individual data file, and also the almanac files in a subdirectory called c:\gpsl1\almanac\
Is there an easy way to move all the jobs to this directory, AND change the software to address them in the new location?
At present, I have 2 directories with locus files. I want to combine everything into one directory.
When the fire burned dad's office, I lost a good number of folders, that had the SPC printouts. These GPS files are archived onto a zip disk. These files should be added to this directory.
Is there an effecient way to do this, or is this just a hurdle I have to live with?
In the very least, do I have to re-create the identical data path that existed when the old files were created?
Part of my problem is the fact that the field books are gone. I CANT re-enter the Slant Heights.
This is a re-hash of the previous post about data paths.
IF it is true that the data paths are unchangeable, then here is a notice to all new users:
PUT ALL DATA IN A SEPARATE DIRECTORY. Address it there from the very beginning.
You see, the original data path looks something like this:
c:\programfiles\ashtech\data\
Then when I added ashtech later versions, I used a different data path.
If the fact is that these are all unchangeable, then at least WARN the new user.
So, my question is: Are these data paths unchangeabel?
IF so, let me know, so I can begin re-creating the data paths and directories. I'm afraid I've already copied some of it to zip disk, and deleted the original paths. I'd better start before memory gets worse...

Nate,
FROM MY EXPERIENCE, the paths are not able to be changed.
Good luck.
If you have full reports printed to disk files, they MAY have the data you lost in the fire.
You can actually open the project file xxxx.spr and get the original data path from it. Also, with some close inspection you can get the point ids and descriptions for said points.
Theoretically, IF YOU CAN FIND ALL the pathnames in ALL the control files, you MAY be able to change the data path, if it IS NOT one of the items also stored in an abbreviated format. It appears that most of the numeric data is stored in some sort of abbreviated hex/ascii?? format.
I tried this once (for fun) but I don't think I found ALL the pathname entries. It didn't work.
I just went and played with a very smallproject. The problem is when you change the pathname and store the data the file format becomes incompatible.
Thales should be able to fix this easily but they must not think its a problem. This has been going on since LOCUS Processor (before ??) and hasn't been addressed even tho it has been mentioned before. Wish I would have remembered this when Phil's boss went online asking for suggestions a month or 6 ago.
