We watched the Northern Lights on Saturday...at latitude 40 N !
Having worked in the Yukon and Alaska, I can tell you that this solar flare is unusually active. The Aurora Borialis was reported in LA. Pretty far south.
Did a kinematic session today, alarms switched on for both receivers. I got alarms six times in 2 hours, even though the units showed 7 sats in open sky.
Processing was fine, not a single "fail" in the QA.
But I think the ionosphere is pretty disturbed right now. Have any other Locus users experienced odd behavior lately?

We had to do some research because we were having problems with the kinematic losing lock, when satellites and geometry should not have been an issue. Plots of the Total Electron Content (TEC), which is a measure of the ionospheric disturbance, can be found at http:/iono.jpl.nasa.gov
You can only get a plot for the current and previous days and should not be doing GPS in anything above a 50 TEC. We are finding the the trend does note necessarily last the day. For example, we can be shut down for three hours in the middle of the day, but be fine for the rest of the day.
We have been tracking the TEC patterns over the past week and it appears to be moving north. Fortunately, from what I hear, this cycle of inonospehric disturbance is due to end in June.
