Ashtech,
I've had three Locus units for a while now. Some thoughts on the development of a base station for Locus has crossed my mind.
I don't have a secure easily accesible place to place a unit all day long to run a base station with a unit. The accessibility kills the idea because at the end of each day you have to dis-mount and then iR it to the computer.
If I had a cable on a unit to the computer, and this unit was in a secure location, then I would be in Hog Heaven.
Almost every thing in LC is within 6 miles so Static and Kinematic could both be covered with the base station idea.
My question is does Ashtech have a single frequency unit along the lines of the Locus that can be used as I have outlined. Maybe with power and rs-232 connections and recording software. I honestly don't want to spend a fortune but if there is something available and priced like a Locus then it increases the value of the three units I have by being able to put them into use on multiple crews daily. And then evrything could be tied to SPC with minimal effort.
I mean a Locus unit with an weather shielded external RS-232 and DCpower connector would be A1Cool.
